The NYC Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) enriches the environment and protects public health for all New Yorkers by providing 1.1 billion gallons of high-quality drinking water, managing wastewater and stormwater, and reducing air, noise, and hazardous materials pollution. DEP is the largest combined municipal water and wastewater utility in the country, with nearly 6,000 employees. DEP’s water supply system is comprised of 19 reservoirs and 3 controlled lakes throughout the system’s 2,000 square mile watershed that extends 125 miles north and west of the City.
DEP’s Bureau of Business Information Technology (BIT) is responsible for providing quality business, technical and IT system support to our users. This commitment is realized through collaboration, strong relationships, and a unified vision with our partners at DEP in order to provide quality technological solutions to our business needs. Providing these services allows us to ensure that DEP continues its tradition of delivering excellent service to the residents of New York City.
The Security Unit is responsible for highly technical and supervisory activities in the development of security policy, technical design, implementation, maintenance, and research current and new security solutions. The selected candidate will be assisting with the development and fine-tuning of the current security policy, review and implement security solutions in support of the security procedures. The selected candidate should also have a working knowledge of one or more of the following: policy management for proactive and reactive security services, user security, web security, reviewing application code, mobile security, network/server/security attributes, and endpoint protection.
As of June of the Program year the prospective intern must be a student matriculated in a college or be a recent college graduate (winter/spring term of the Program year).
Appointment to this title is only valid for the duration of the Program, June – August each year.
