Career and educational support for young people

NeON Works by NYC Department of Probation (DOP) and NYC Young Men's Initiative (YMI)

Now enrolling.

Professional support and stipends for young adults on probation or living in certain neighborhoods. For Justice-impacted individuals, Low-income New Yorkers, Out-of-school youth, Youth and young adults.

  • Services Provided Help with finding work, High school diploma or equivalency (HSE or GED) prep, Internship or short-term job, Training for a new job
  • Duration and Length Up to a year
  • Support Provided Stipends, metro cards, and additional incentives for reaching your goals!

Community service on Saturdays

Youth WRAP by NYC Department of Probation (DOP)

Young adults 14-26 who are justice-impacted can do community service and get a stipend. For Justice-impacted individuals, Youth and young adults.

  • Services Provided Internship or short-term job
  • Duration and Length 6 Saturdays; 5 hours per day

Job training and employment for low-income youth

Train and Earn by NYC Department of Youth & Community Development (DYCD)

Short-term program for ages 16-24 who are not working nor in school. For Black, Hispanic/Latino, and people of color, Justice-impacted individuals, LGBTQ+ New Yorkers, Low-income New Yorkers, NYCHA residents, Out-of-school youth, People with disabilities, Public assistance recipients, Veterans, Women, Youth and young adults, Youth in foster care.

Paid internships for low-income young adults (age 16–24)

Work Progress Program by NYC Human Resources Administration (HRA)

This program provides internship opportunities to young adults, especially those who are out of work and out of school. For Justice-impacted individuals, Low-income New Yorkers, NYCHA residents, Out-of-school youth, Public assistance recipients, Youth and young adults, Youth in foster care.

Commercial Driving Program by NYC Department of Small Business Services (SBS)

This program prepares unemployed New Yorkers to work as commercial drivers. For Adults, Justice-impacted individuals, Low-income New Yorkers, Public assistance recipients.

  • Duration and Length 6 weeks, Monday to Friday, 9am-5pm
